It’s Restaurant Week!

The Hudson Valley’s annual prix-fixe promotion for lunch and dinner at some of the area’s finest restaurants runs November 4-17.

Hudson Valley Restaurant Week

If you live somewhat proximate to any U.S. city, I bet you can find a similar celebration some time during the year.  Denver does theirs February 22-28; North Carolina’s Triangle Area celebrates January 20-26; Boston’s is March 16-28.  It’s a great way to sample a new restaurant, experiment with different cuisine, or just a terrific excuse to get together with friends.

If you’ve followed my recent posts about visits to the Hudson Valley’s tourist destinations (Sunnyside, Union Church), there are many participating restaurants within a stone’s throw, so you can really make a day of it.  For example, why not try celebrity chef Michael Psilakis’s MP Taverna in Irvington?  Or head over the Tappan Zee Bridge to Tappan, NY, and The ’76 House, where Revolutionary War traitor Major André was held before his hanging. And, yes. George Washington ate there too.

Check the fine print before making your plans.  Our area restaurants generally exclude Friday and Saturday nights, so you’re better off planning lunch or a weeknight meal. What are you waiting for?
